I've been discovering these past few weeks that all those things I read, researched, or talked about in regards to a healthier lifestyle actually work! As my FIT coach predicted, I haven't expired from working out, eating healthier meals, eating less sugar, and drinking more water. It's like she's Nostradamus, only better. None of Nostradamus' predictions ever did anything to shrink my waistline.

This week's curveball was getting sick. I've been fighting a cold since my last weigh in. If any of you are like me, I positively LOATHE getting sick. My first instinct is to plant myself on the nearest couch with the remote in hand, catching up on DVR'd programs, and eating whatever makes me forget about my stuffy nose, scratchy throat, and aching lungs. Instead, I went ahead and worked out, continued to follow my FIT eating plan and got plenty of rest. My voice, however, is shot. As a result, my roommate can now get a word in edgewise.

I realize I will need (and take) as much support from any source as the weeks progress. Last time I mentioned prepping meals ahead of time to take the worry out of healthy choices during the week. Not only is this a genius idea, but as I am now doing this with friends, it's a social event and we're having fun with it. Dieting and changing lifelong habits alone can be daunting. As a person who can barely find her way around a grocery store, having the love and extra support from family and friends really helps!

This week's menu (all found from the cookbooks at  FIT!):  unstuffed cabbage, shepherd's pie (made with cauliflower "mashed potatoes"...should be interesting), and crockpot ribs. I'll let you know how I pull this one off as a low-carb meal and how the cauliflower taters turn out.
